OSCÁR DE LA CINNA.
Oscár de la Cinna y de Mahr, Baron of Cinna and Count of Mahr, was born in Budapest in 1836, though some sources record his birth six years earlier in 1830. He died in Jerez de la Frontera (Spain) in 1906.
His academic background would link him to Budapest’s Romantic Movement. He was a disciple of Karl Czerny and a fellow student of Franz Liszt and Sigismond Thalberg who encouraged him to give up a career in case-law to become a full-time composer and pianist.
The present recording of Oscár de la Cinna’s works offers twelve pieces published during the composer’s lifetime in an attempt to provide a varied spectrum of a lifetime’s work.
